The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a three-vehicle accident that occurred shortly before 7:30am Thursday on Highway 30 near Hershey. Sheriff Jerome Kramer says the investigation determined that a Trailblazer, driven by 23-year-old Hally Falkena of North Platte, was traveling westbound when she became concerned about a vehicle approaching from behind her. That vehicle, a Jeep Liberty driven by a 14-year-old boy with a school permit, then pulled out to pass her and struck an eastbound Ford Ranger driven by 58-year-old Daniel Richardson of Sutherland head-on.

The 14-year-old’s Jeep then skidded into the ditch and rolled onto it’s top. The Jeep and Ranger involved in the head-on collision veered into the path of Ms. Faulkena’s vehicle causing front end damage to it.

Richardson was trapped inside his Ranger and Hershey EMS worked to remove him from it. He sustained a possible broken leg and hip, along with facial injuries.

The other 2 drivers were out of their vehicles upon responder’s arrival. Falkena did not have an serious injuires. However, the 14-year-old boy suffered a fractured neck.

Highway 30 was closed for both eastbound and westbound traffic for an hour.
