A 47-year-old Gothenburg man made two trips through the Dawson County Jail booking process on Monday August 12, 2024. In the first instance, Travis Sheffield was arrested on charges of Third Degree Assault and Disturbing the Peace in connection with two people at a residence near his own residence. The citation notes indicate Sheffield allegedly attempted to gain entry into the victim’s household causing them to fear for their safety. He was booked by Gothenburg Police Department around 12:15pm Monday. The circumstances surrounding his release was not clear from court records.

Gothenburg Police returned to the same area Monday evening. An arrest affidavit indicates Sheffield became involved in a verbal disturbance and pounding on his neighbor’s door. Despite being told several times to leave his neighbor’s alone, he continued to pound on their door. He was charged with Disturbing the Peace in that instance and booked into the Dawson County Jail at 9:49pm Monday August 12, 2024.

Sheffield appeared in Dawson County Court on Tuesday. He was arraigned on all three charges. Bond in the first case was set at 10% of $10,000. Bond in the second case was set at 10% of $1,000. The cases were continued to August 27, 2024 at 9:30am for further hearing.
