Gothenburg boys have big day in Kearney

On a hot afternoon in Kearney, the Gothenburg Boys Cross Country team served notice they will be tough to beat at the NSAA state meet in three weeks as they won the Class C team event at the UNK high school invite. Gothenburg outdistanced second place Aurora by 43 points to win easily. Head coach Tony Neels spoke to KRVN sports about their performance.


Leading the Swedes was Tyler Hetz who finished first with a time of 16:39.8. Bryson Neels was 7th with a time of 17:21.5. Yahriel Gaeta was 19th, with a time 18:03.0. Carson Reiman was 28th with a time of 18:21.1.

The Swede girls finished fifth in the team standings. They were led by Scout Bell who was third with a time of 20:16.7. Fellow freshman Brooklyn Reiman was 19th with a time of 21:50.4. The Swedes will host the Gothenburg Invite this Thursday afternoon at Wildhorse.
