Federal investigation into youth death at Pillen farm

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has opened an investigation after a teen was found dead at Pillen Family Farms in Boone County earlier this month.

According to the OSHA website, on April 2, an investigation was opened into the death of a 17-year-old boy was found unresponsive in a hit unit at Pillen Family Farms, 3682 300th Ave. in rural St. Edward, a day prior.

By law, OSHA has six months to complete its investigation.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office said an autopsy had been ordered and that the initial investigation did not indicate any foul play.
