The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding a single vehicle crash the resulted in the death of one adult male driver. It occurred around 5:40 AM on Friday March 22, 2024.
According to preliminary investigation, a single vehicle was traveling southbound on Cottonmill Road located just West of Kearney, NE. Cap Bob Anderson says the 2015 BMW left the roadway, rolled and ejected the driver. There were no other occupants. The driver was located deceased at the scene. He has been identified as Matthew W. Hoffman, age 20, of Kearney. The vehicle involved was a 2015 BMW.
The crash occurred in the road ditch of Cottonmill Road in the area south of the Cottonmill Park entrance and north of the canal bridge.
Assisting deputies at the scene are members of the Kearney Police Department, Kearney / Buffalo County FAIT team, KVFD, GSH Paramedics, Buffalo County Highway Department and Buffalo County Attorney’s Office.
The Buffalo County Attorney’s Office has ordered an autopsy.
