The Nebraska State Patrol continues to investigate a fatality accident that occured Monday in Hamilton County. It was reported around 3:40pm on Interstate 80 near mile marker 319, or about one mile east of th Phillips exit.
Preliminary investigation shows that a Saturn sedan was westbound on I-80 when it crossed the median and struck an eastbound semi head-on.
The driver of the Saturn has been identified as Velia Venegas, 21, of Grand Island. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the semi was not injured.
Eastbound I-80 was closed for approximately four hours.
