EF-2 Tornado Destroys Two Homes and Injures One Near Whitman

According to Grant County Sheriff Michael Rath, an approximate EF-2 tornado was tracked and observed going through the Grant County Village of Whitman, NE at about 7:30 PM on Tuesday evening.

There was minor structural damage to homes, trees and vehicles. About half a mile south of Whitman two homes were completely destroyed and one person reported injured. Two of the three communications towers at Whitman were totally destroyed. At last update, there is no power in Whitman and lines are being assessed.

Sheriff Rath added that no outside assistance is needed at this time. Other than emergency personnel or residents, it’s requested that people stay clear of the area.
