The Frontier County Sheriff’s Office reports a double-fatality traffic accident over the weekend. It was reported around 1:00am Saturday. Maywood Fire Department and Frontier County EMS also responded to the scene of a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision about 7 miles south of Maywood on Highway 83. Upon arrival, the drivers of both vehicles were found deceased.
Sheriff Michael Jordan says the preliminary investigation show a northbound Ford Explorer crossed the center line and collided head on with a southbound Mazda. An accident reconstructions from Nebraska State Patrol is assisting in the investigation. Names of those involved have not been released.
The Frontier County Sheriff’s Office offered their “deepest sympathy to families and friends of those involved”. Sheriff Jordan says they would also ask motorist to “please drive safely”. He added his appreciation to the responding agencies of what has been described as a “tragic incident”.
