Dawson County Sheriff’s Office deputies are being equipped with 16 new Guardian Angel lights. The purchase was made possible through a grant of $1,759.83 from the AAA Auto Club Group Foundation.

The lights are designed to be worn on the officer’s exterior vests with multiple light functions according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Mark Montgomery said he is very appreciative of the award. He adds that there are a variety of tools on the market that can help law enforcement but, as with any other agency they need to be selective with costs in their budget. Sheriff Montgomery says “having access to grants and other donations allows us to seek the purchase of items we would normally have to pass up” and that continued that keeping his deputies safe is of utmost priority.
