A 42-year-old Lexington woman will arraigned in Dawson County Court next week on charges of Felony Motor Vehicle Homicide while under the Influence, Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol and No Operator’s License. Vilma Almanza-Siles is accused in the June 2, 2024 death of 38-year-old Yuniesky Diaz-Gomez near an apartment complex in southeast Lexington. Almanza-Siles will make her first court appearance on Monday June 10, 2024 at 10:00am in Dawson County Court. She is being held in the Dawson County Jail without bond.

Lexington Police Department was called the apartment complex around 4:30am Sunday where they found Diaz-Gomez on the ground with significant injuries after being hit by a vehicle driven by Almanza-Siles. The two were in a relationship, according to police reports. Diaz-Gomez was transported by Lexington Volunteer Fire Department to Lexington Regional Health Center where he died of his injuries.

Witnesses reported that the two engaged in an argument upon their arrival home, during which Almanza-Siles attempted to leave. Diaz-Gomez stepped in front of the vehicle in an attempt to prevent her from leaving and was struck by the moving vehicle.

After Almanza-Siles was taken into custody, she provided a breath test sample that indicated .118 of alcohol.

The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the ongoing investigation.
