Last week construction for the new addition to the Frontier County courthouse began. The 135 year old courthouse has had several additions during its lifetime with the main building needing repair.
This addition plans to add elevators, ADA accessible bathrooms, new courtroom, inmate holding room, jury deliberating, and new judge chambers with a bathroom. The 2.3 million dollar bid by Wayne Dowhower Construction for this addition was accepted by the Frontier County Commission late in 2023.
The project has been part of discussions by the County Commissioners for about 6 years, according to Frontier County Clerk Darla Walther. Walther talked about the funds already acquired for the project.
Walther says the project should be completed by May of 2025.
