A Colorado rancher was killed after being struck by lightning over Memorial Day weekend.

Fifty-one-year-old rancher Mike Morgan was feeding his cattle out of a trailer around 2 p.m. when the lightning struck him, according to Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of first responders.

Jackson County Coroner George Crocket said the strike also killed over 30 head of cattle clustered around the trailer, and the blast knocked Morgan’s wife off her horse almost 200 feet away.

An online fundraiser set up for the family has reached $15,045 of the $5,000 goal as of May 28th.

Morgan is survived by his wife, Niki, and their 17-year-old daughter, Dallas.
