Burwell man arrested for attempted murder at livestock facility

BURWELL – A Burwell man has been arrested on attempted murder charges after a shooting at a livestock facility.

The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office says it was dispatched to a facility in rural Garfield County shortly after 11:20 a.m. Wednesday where a 52-year-old man had been shot.

According to a release, 55-year-old William Weber Jr. of Burwell was arrested for Attempted First Degree Murder, First Degree Assault and Use of a Firearm To Commit a Felony.

The victim was taken to a medical facility for treatment. Authorities did not provide any information on what led to the shooting.

Weber was lodged in the Valley County Jail with bond set at 10% of $500,000.

The Nebraska State Patrol is assisting the sheriff’s office in the ongoing investigation.
