Broken Bow wins two at home over Lexington

BROKEN BOW – The Broken Bow girls and boys basketball teams got big wins over Lexington, with the girls winning 73-30, and the boys winning 53-47.

In the girls game, things started fast and went well for Broken Bow. The Indians scored 23 points in both the first and second quarter. After Janae Marten got things going for Broken Bow, scoring 8 in the first, Halle McCaslin scored 11 second quarter points to help the Indians get out to a big lead. For Lexington, Ihlan Moulid would score 10 second quarter points with the help of a pair of three’s. Broken Bow led 46-17 at the half.

In the second half, Lexington did a good job limiting the scoring, holding them to only 27 second half points. Broken Bow ended up having 12 different players score, and rolled to a 73-30 win.

MaKinley Tobey led the way for Broken Bow with 15 points. The Indians went 7-10 from the free throw line and turned it over 10 times. Lexington was led by Moulid who scored 17 points. The Minutemaids were 3-4 from the line and committed 23 turnovers.

Broken Bow improves to 15-3 while Lexington falls to 1-16.

Broken Bow got off to a fast start in the boys game. Braxtton Johnson scored 9 first quarter points to help the Indians out to a 15-7 first quarter lead. Lexington slowed things down in the second quarter, only being outscored by one point, and trailed 25-16 at the break.

The third quarter is where Broken Bow pulled away. They outscored the Minutemen 20-12 in the third, helped by 10 third quarter points from Dominic Nowak. The Indians led at one point by 20. However, in the fourth, Lexington would continue to fight, outscoring the Indians 19-8 in the final frame. Isaiah Ellingson scored 7 fourth quarter points, with Carlos Martinez adding 5, but it was not enough, as Broken Bow held on to the 53-47 victory.

Broken Bow was led in scoring by both Johnson and Nowak who scored 17 each. Broken Bow was 10-15 from the free throw line, and committed 10 turnovers. Ellingson led the way for Lexington scoring 17 points. The Minutemen were 2-5 from the free throw line, and turned the ball over 12 times.

Broken Bow improves to 3-12 while Lexington falls to 4-13.
