PLATTSMOUTH – The Lexington Minutemen had no answer for the Plattsmouth Blue Devil rushing attack, as the home team gashed Lexington to the tune of 358 rushing yards in a 48-7 loss Thursday night. Click here for a replay of the broadcast.

Plattsmouth (2-2) recovers after losing their past two contests while Lexington (0-4) continues to search for its first varsity non-forfeit victory since 2021.

The Blue Devils hummed to scores on their first six offensive drives, putting in touchdowns all on the ground from sophomore running back Levi Walker, receiver Traceson Skalberg, and quarterback Bradin Van Winkle.

Trailing 14-0 in the mid-first quarter, Lexington freshman Tyler Thorell escaped on a 68 yard touchdown scamper out of a fake-punt to score for the Minutemen on their visit to the eastern edge of Nebraska. Thorell’s run accounted for half of the 136 total rushing yards for Lexington in the contest.

Quarterback Bryant Truax came in halfway in the second quarter to generate more of a passing game for Lexington, going 2-for-9 for 15 yards. The sophomore signal caller tossed two interceptions in the final minute before halftime, including a nearly 70 yard pick six by Plattsmouth defensive back Henry Loontjer. Starter Jayden Thorell finished going 1-of-4 passing for 17 yards as well as one catch for 11 yards.

Lexington’s Cesar Cano toted the ball for 14 carries and 44 yards, while Tyler Thorell also featured one reception for 17 yards.

Down 34-7 at halftime, Lexington could not drum up any offensive momentum and allowed two quick third quarter scores to finish the contest in a 48-7 defeat.

Plattsmouth’s Walker was the star of the night, lifting the Blue Devils’ offense with 29 carries for 208 yards and two touchdowns. Van WInkle had 11 carries for 76 yards and two touchdowns as well. Skalberg ended with four carries for 26 yards and a touchdown, while snagging two catches for 30 yards.  Plattsmouth awaits their next test welcoming Gretna East on Friday, Sept. 27.
