Bertrand prepares for the 2024 golf season
March 20th, 2024 | Jon Schilling

Bertrand, Neb. – The Bertrand Vikings are gearing up for another golf season with a surplus of new faces. The 2024 Vikings feature 10 freshmen on their roster of 13 golfers. Nine of those freshmen have also taken the difficult, and sometimes frustrating, task of learning how to navigate the links.

Head coach Steve Colfack is in his 10th year with Bertrand and has more than just his own experiences to draw from while coaching the new recruits. Fortunately, Colfack has his three returners who are capable and willing to show the new golfers how things work at the high school level. The focus in the early part of the season will be on basic rules and form, as well as golf etiquette and the many things that make the game of golf unique.

Bertrand will open up their 2024 season at home when they host Southern Valley and Alma on Friday, March 22. With a good nucleus returning from last year, Colfack expects the Vikings to compete well this season.

Coach Colfack speaks with KUVR’s Jon Schilling about how this team is preparing for the new season.
