Bertrand/Loomis make a statement in 1st cross country meet; boys place 2nd

Curtis, Neb. – The Bertrand/Loomis Wolfkings opened their 2024 Cross Country season at the Medicine Valley Invitational on Thursday. The boys finished as the runner-up in the team standings with the girls team finishing in fifth place. Bertrand senior Marcus Hernandez was off to a hot start after placing first and finishing nearly 35 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher, Kael Garrett of Medicine Valley.

Hernandez led the way for the Wolfkings who placed two more runners. Loomis senior Luke Larson crossed the finish line under the 19-minute mark placing eight with Loomis freshman Cade Hays placing ninth.

Bertrand/Loomis had two girls place in their race. Bertrand freshman Autumn McNierney paced her team with a ninth-place finish. Bertrand junior Ashlynn Edgren was just four seconds back at 11th place.

The Wolfkings are back in action on Thursday, September 5, at Gibbon.
