BERTRAND – The Village of Bertrand, Bertrand Housing Authority in partnership with South Central Economic Development District, Inc. (SCEDD) is excited to announce the Ribbon Cutting event for the new Sunset View Villa 5-Plex apartments, officiated by Governor Jim Pillen.
This housing project is owned and managed by the Bertrand Housing Authority and made possible utilizing a Nebraska Department of Economic Development, Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Fund grant awarded to the Village of Bertrand in 2022. This project represents a celebration for the community of Bertrand as it marks the first new housing construction in the community since 2008! Bertrand leadership is excited to embrace all housing opportunities to support our local workforce and this project is a culmination of many efforts to identify the need and seek a solution to a housing need – quality affordable 2-bedroom apartments.

Following the ribbon cutting, the public is invited to tour a Sunset View Villa 2-bedroom unit. Another 5-Plex project partner, Phelps County Development Corporation, will then showcase a Rural Workforce Housing (RWH) fund housing project at 213 Minor Street, Bertrand, with the Governor touring this project. Bertrand Community Builders, LLC. a local investment club with SCEDD’s assistance that began in 2022, is the owner of the RWH project.
