Bearcats sprint past Lexington

LEXINGTON – The Scottsbluff Bearcats led from start to finish and dominated in nearly every facet, defeating Lexington 55-14 Friday night.

A strong running attack by Scottsbluff was difficult or nearly impossible all night for Lexington to stop. The Bearcats ran for 400 yards, most from Sebastien Boyle who scored three touchdowns on 12 carries for 244 yards. Scottsbluff would score on every drive in the game except one.

Scottsbluff drove down the field on their opening drive, 92 yards before quarterback Braden Stull snuck in for a two yard touchdown. On Lexington’s first drive, Daven Naylor would throw an interception that would be returned to the four yard line. One play later, the Bearcats found the endzone on a Boyle run. The Minutemen would respond as they dialed up a 12 play drive and eventually scored on a 17 yard touchdown pass from Naylor to Jase Carpenter. Scottsbluff held a 14-7 lead after one quarter.

The offensive flood gates would open in the second quarter as the Bearcats would score four touchdowns. Stull threw his only touchdown pass of the game to Jackson Allen from 31 yards out to start the quarter. Boyle would be next to score as he ran in from 52 yards out. Stull would find the endzone once more on a 15 yard run and to end the first half, Jayce Wilkinson picked off Naylor and ran it in for a pick six. The Bearcats led 42-7 at the half.

Each team would score in the third quarter. Boyle ran in from 64 yard out to start the second half. Lexington would score one final time as Naylor found Jacksen Conrad for an eight yard touchdown pass. Scottsbluff would score one final time in the fourth quarter on a 49 yard touchdown run by Anthony Martin.

Along with the 400 yards rushing, Scottsbluff saw Stull pass for 53 yards and accounted for three touchdowns. Allen caught two passes for 53 yards and scored two total touchdowns. The Bearcats did commit seven penalties for 50 yards. Lexington only mustered 197 yards of total offense. In his final game, Naylor led the team with 24 yards rushing and went 10-22 for 128 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Carpenter caught four passes for 68 yards, scored one touchdown and threw an interception. Konrad caught five passes for 48 yards and the one touchdown.

Scottsbluff finishes the regular season at 8-1 while Lexington ends the year at 1-8.
