At Ease USA Expands Peer Support Services to Western Nebraska
December 2nd, 2023 | At Ease USA

(Omaha, NE) – At Ease USA (AEU) is pleased to announce the addition of North Platte native, Keith Howell to the AEU team. A U.S. Army Special Operations combat veteran with extensive volunteerism in the veteran community, Keith will join two contracted therapists and serve as the Peer Support and Outreach Specialist based in North Platte and serving western Nebraska. Mr. Howell has completed Nebraska DHHS-approved Peer Support training through Omaha’s Community Alliance.

At Ease USA provides access to confidential trauma treatment for active military, veterans, and their families suffering from the impact of Post-Traumatic Stress, moral injury and suicidal ideations. AEU does not replace services provided by the other military organizations, but instead fills a gap for those needing services. AEU removes barriers to treatment and offers behavioral health services through a statewide network of licensed mental health professionals trained in trauma treatment. AEU utilizes many approaches, including family and couple’s therapy, individual and group peer support, and one-on-one therapy.

As the AEU Peer Support Specialist, Mr. Howell will lead the Vets4Vets program providing immediate crisis relief and working as a liaison between clients and therapists. Additionally, he will offer an extra level of one-on-one care to include peer coaching, assistance with community resources, coordination of medical services, help with accomplishing other personal life goals, and sometimes, just someone to chat with when times have been particularly tough.

Mr. Howell will lead regular peer support groups that meet twice monthly. Service members gather to connect, recover, and inspire hope. Together they share and learn from their personal experiences, assisting one another to develop their own goals and take concrete steps toward fulfilling them. Groups will meet at Wild Bills Fun Center in North Platte on the following evenings beginning at 6:00 pm with more dates to be added in 2024:

– Thursday, December 7th 2023 Thursday, January 11th 2024
– Thursday, December 28th 2023 Thursday, January 25th 2024
