Dawson County Judge Jeffrey Wightman issued an arrest warrant for a 27-year-old Farnam man who failed to appear for his court hearing Monday morning. Ruben Trevino, Jr. is charged with two counts of Felony Child Abuse for allegedly driving recklessly with two young children in the vehicle. He is also charged with two counts of transporting a child while intoxicated, 2nd offense Driving Under the Influence, No Operator’s License and Willful Reckless Driving.

Shortly before 2:30pm on June 26, 2024, Lexington Police Department was dispatched to Casey’s South in Lexington on a report of a man getting into a vehicle with an open container and “then doing cookies in the parking lot”. The arrest report continues that Trevino was observed to have “bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person.” In the process of the traffic stop, Trevino, Jr apparently backed into a Lexington Police Department patrol car. Inside the vehicle were three other people, a woman and her two children ages 11 and 2.

Trevino, Jr. had previously bonded out of Dawson County Jail after 10% of $5,000 was posted. In the new arrest warrant, his percentage bond was increased to $20,000.
