Kearney, Neb. – Freshman Callie Dockter tied the 36-hole school record (141) to help the Nebraska Kearney women’s golf place fifth at the Grace Shin Regional Preview Tuesday in Edmond, Okla. The two-day, 24-team event was hosted by Central Oklahoma at the par 70 Kicking Bird G.C.
UNK has turned in some of its best team and individual scores at this tournament in previous years and nothing changed this time around as the Lopers had rounds of 291 and 293. The 584 tally is the second-best score in school history, trailing only a 582 achieved in the fall of 2022 at Awarii Dunes. Central Missouri (573) edged Harding by two strokes to come in first with Rogers State also carding a 584. Just 14 strokes separated the top seven teams.
Dockter (Byron, Minn.) led UNK by finishing eighth thanks to a 1-over par 141 (70-71). Faviola Gonzalez shot a 141 at the 2019 MIAA Fall Preview to set the Loper 36-hole standard. Docker’s two days included five birdies and 25 pars. Paige Hoffman of Northwest Missouri and Pilar Martinez of Harding both shot a 2-under 138 with a playoff determining medalist honors.
Also for UNK, Arizona graduate student Sophia Coleman tied for 15th place (career-low 144; 70-74) with Colombina senior Juliana Botero Molina tying for 31st (148; 76-72). Coleman’s score ties for third best in Loper lore and included five birdies with Botero Molina rallying on Tuesday thanks to three birdies and nine pars. Finally, Arizona junior Emmie Rhude tied for 50th (151/75-76) with Kansas sophomore 16 spots back Liz Lyons (153/76-77).
This past weekend, a Loper “B” team was third out of seven teams (640; 324-316) at the annual Nebraska Intercollegiate in Hastings. Texas sophomore Sofia Wildeman paced the effort by finishing in fourth place (156; 79-77). UNK ends the fall season at the Midwest Intercollegiate Oct. 14-15 in Maryville, Mo.
