Ruby Mae Schulte, 89, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on February 5, 1934, in Custer County, Nebraska to Carl and Mary (Norden) Loar. Ruby was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Schulte on February 18, 1952, in Broken Bow, Nebraska. Five children were blessed to this union: Michael, Joyce, Wanda, Linda, and Cindy. The couple made their home in Lexington and Grand Island until moving to Kearney in 1956. They moved to Thousand Oaks, California, for two years, but returned to Lexington in 1971.

Ruby was a devout member of many organizations. She was a member of Calvary Assembly of God church in Lexington and taught Sunday school for many years.  Ruby attended a bible study group every week and devoted her time to the Prayer Connection. She was the president of the Navy Mother’s Club, a part of the Tri County Hospital Auxiliary and Christian Women’s Club as well as a Lexington Public School mentor. Ruby was quite the social butterfly, and she never knew a stranger.

Sports were a big deal to Ruby. She loved watching her favorite sports teams including the Huskers, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Cubs, Atlanta Braves, and the especially the Kansas City Royals. She also loved watching her grandchildren play on their sports teams. Her family was one of the most important things to her, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Michael (Katy) Schulte of Lexington, Joyce Knickelbein of Lexington, Wanda (Jerry) Fisher of Cozad, Linda (Jerry) Halouska of North Platte, and Cindy (Mike) Lanini of Lincoln; brother, Angus Cameron of Arizona; sisters, Darlene Welch of North Platte, and Loretta Sickler of Arizona; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and many, many friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Schulte, her sister, Betty Saldivar, and great-granddaughter, Faith.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Assembly of God in Lexington, with Pastor Rex Adams, officiating.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.

Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Lexington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are kindly suggested to the Calvary Assembly of God or the Christian Women’s Club in honor of Ruby.
