A Memorial Service for Larry Paul Jensen will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastors Murray Jones and Melva Tranmer officiating. A private Family Inurnment will be held prior to the service with Military Honors provided by the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 in conjunction with the United States Navy Funeral Honors Team.

Larry Paul Jensen, 82 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away, on March 1, 2022, at his home in Holdrege surrounded by his family. Larry was born in Minden, Nebraska on April 1, 1939, the sixth of seven children, born to Algy and Tina (Borgaard) Jensen. He received his education from the Minden Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1957.
Following his education, Larry enlisted into the United States Navy and was Honorably Discharged just three months later due to his bad knees.
On November 22, 1959, Larry was united in marriage to Marilyn Buso at the Methodist Church in Shelton, Nebraska and to this union two sons were born: Dan and Shaun. The couple made their home in Holdrege. Larry started working with Lumpkins IGA in 1963, and then in 1970 he went to work for Holdrege Coop Equity Exchange. In 1984 Larry started Green Landscapes and never did retire.
Larry was a talented self-taught carpenter and passed that on to Shaun and his grandchildren. Most of all he wanted to be with his family; going out on Saturday evenings to dance with Marilyn, having many family cookouts and making sure they took a yearly vacation together.
He was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church, Rags to Riches Youth Ministry and Journey Fellowship all in Holdrege.
Larry was preceded in death by, his parents; one grandson, Noah Paul Jensen; three brothers: Edmand Jensen; Robert Jensen and his wife, Eileen; Don Jensen and his wife, Donna; two sisters: Marcia Marion and her husband Milton; Violett Henneman and her husband, Lee; brother-in-law, Dennis Mosbarger; Lloyd Rippe; Arthur Holsten; Jim Buso; one sister-in-law, Cheryl Buso.
Larry is survived by his wife, Marilyn Jensen; two sons: Dan Jensen and his wife, Linda; and Shaun Jensen and his wife, Lisa all of Holdrege; seven grandchildren: Kit Mentzer and her husband, Brett; Hannah Steen and her husband, Brice; Matthew Jensen; Mackenzie Koch and her husband, Dustin; Mackenna Jensen and her fiancé, Leshaun Miner; Mackinley Jensen; and Beau Jensen; four great-grandchildren: Parker and Piper Mentzer; Fletcher and Graham Steen; sister, Marit Mosbarger of Ventura, California;
brothers-in-law: Phillip Buso of Hubberston, Massachusetts; Jack Buso of Gibbon, Nebraska; sisters-in-law: Ardyce Jensen of Huron, South Dakota; Winnie Buso of Mesa, Arizona; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial book signing will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in Larry’s honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
