Kathryn L. Lessig, 85 of Lexington

Kathryn L. Lessig, 85 of Lexington passed away peacefully with her husband, Don by her side on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 in Lexington.

Kathryn was born January 28, 1936 in Lexington to Henry and Susie (Thinnes) Gruntorad. She attended Overton High School and graduated with the class of 1953. On October 5, 1968 Kathryn married Don Lessig at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington. The couple were blessed with one son; Matthew John.

The couple made their home in Lexington where she worked for Northwestern Telephone Company for twenty years, she always considered this to be her favorite job. The couple then opened Lessig’s Tots & Teens which they operated for twenty-three years. Kathryn then worked at the Sixth Street Food Store and Tysons retiring in 2011.

Family was a very important part of Kathryn’s life as was the St. Ann’s Catholic Church where she served on various committees.

She Loved to bake, her runzas, cinnamon rolls and kolaches were her favorites. She enjoyed her coffee times with her friends at A&D Café as well as making trips to casinos.

Kathryn is survived by her husband; Don, of Lexington, one son; Matthew and wife Deanna of Overton, Grandchildren; Vicktoria, Elizabeth, Kathleen, Johnathan, Alexis, Trinedy & Jaxson, great- granddaughters; Kinleigh, Gracie and Jailee. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Kathyrn is preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Robert, Henry, Joseph, Francis, Ervin and Donald as well as a sister; Agnes.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 9, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds Love Funeral Home in Lexington. A Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m.

A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, July 12, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Reverend Matt Koperski, officiating.

Inurnment will be held in the St. Ann’s Cemetery in Lexington.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
