Glenn Harold Thomas, 46, of Holdrege

A Memorial Service for Glenn H. Thomas will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Mr. George Probasco officiating.  Casual attire is requested.  A private inurnment will be held in Kentucky at later time. 

     Glenn Harold Thomas, 46, of Holdrege, passed on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Madonna Rehabilitation in Lincoln, Nebraska, with his wife by his side, following complications from a stroke. Glenn was born in Glasgow, Kentucky, on November 30, 1977, the eldest of two sons born to William “Harold” and Diana (Gordon) Thomas.  He was raised as a farm boy and participated in wrestling during his school years.   

     Glenn attended school and graduated from Arapahoe Public Schools in Arapahoe, Nebraska with the class of 1996.  He attended Southeast Community College in Beatrice, Nebraska.   

     On September 4, 2010, Glenn was united in marriage to Rebecca James at the Winn Hill Bed and Breakfast in Downing, Missouri.  The couple made their home in Loomis, Nebraska for a short time and then moved to Holdrege.  Glenn worked as an over the road truck driver for numerous trucking companies, most recently,  N-N Transfer out of Bertrand, Nebraska.   

     He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews (and picking on them).  Glenn loved his furry children:  including, dogs and cats, Phoebe, Phoenix, Marley, Coal, and Pepper.    

     Glenn enjoyed riding his motorcycle, attending Storm Hockey, Husker Football, dirt track races and NASCAR races. 

     Glenn was preceded in death by his father, William “Harold” Thomas; a niece, Makenna R. James-Smith; and two uncles: James Malone, and Stephen Malone. 

     Glenn is survived by his wife, Becky Thomas of Holdrege; his mother, Diana Childress of Arapahoe; his brother, Michael L. Thomas of Arapahoe; father-in-law and mother-in-law:  Mel and Sharon James of Hildreth, Nebraska; sister-in-law and brother-in-law:  Robin Smith and husband, Allan of Wilcox; and Troy James of Plainview, Nebraska; nieces and nephews:  Paul Thomas, Jacob Thomas, Chevy Whitmann; Mersadie Hopkins, Abbi Thomas, and Rip Thomas; Tyler, Killian and Donovan Smith; and Kane Hardt, Dayna James, Hunter James, and Jessica James; two sisters-in-law:  Kelley Thomas of Rogersville, Missouri; and Anna Hopkins of Arapahoe; and several extended family members.   

     A Memorial Book Signing will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home, with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
