The WESTCO Zephyrs have started the season winning their first two games after a Thursday night home win over Chadron, 13-5, in five innings.
Moi Panduro started and worked just three innings (didn’t need him to throw any more than he did with the game in hand) and he struck out 7 along the way to earn the win.
Offensively the Z’s collected only five hits in the game. Chadron pitchers combined to walk 10 plus they committed five errors and mixed in a handful of wild pitches as well.
WESTCO scored five in the first inning and then in the second inning they scored seven times without a base hit.
Carter Meyer had three RBI in the win for WESTCO.
Through two games the Zephyrs, offensively, have combined to strike out just seven times.
Jahrell Mendez came on in relief of Panduro and closed out the final two innings allowing four runs, only one of which was earned.
In the early game on Thursday the Express won the juniors game over Chadron 7-3.
