Sidney doubles up as WC Track & Field champs

A banner season continued on Tuesday for the Sidney High School track and field teams as they swept the team titles at the Western Conference meet in Scottsbluff.

The Lady Raiders posted a whopping 182 points, which nearly doubled up second place Scottsbluff (97 pts) while Gering finished in third place.

  • Karsyn Leeling of Sidney won the 100 meters, long jump, and high jump
  • Hannah Rugroden of Scottsbluff took first in both the 800 meters and the mile
  • Sidney’s Chloe Ahrens took first in both hurdle events and ran on a winning relay team
  • Alison Bradford of Gering captured first in the 3,200 meters
  • Gering also got wins in the 4×100 meter relay plus Jaxie John in the shot put

On the boys side you had Sidney putting up a winning 143 points with Scottsbluff second with 108 and Gering also third in the boys team standings.

  • Gering’s Axton Stone had four first places with wins in the mile and two mile plus running on the Gering winning mile and two mile relay teams
  • Mitchell’s Jeremiah Coley notched field event wins in the shot put and discus
  • Jackson Howard of Gering won first in the 800 meters and also ran on two winning relay teams
  • Isak Doty of Sidney ran to first places in the 100 and 200 meters plus also on the Raiders win in the 4×100 meter relay
  • Gering’s Creighton Beals won the 300 hurdles and took second in the 100’s
