For the second time this season, the Mavericks have swept the TicketSmarter Summit League Performers of the Week awards. Drew Lechnir was named Summit League Peak Performer of the Week while Caleb Riedel grabbed his second Peak Pitcher of the Week accolade of the season.
Lechnir went 7-for-13 with eight RBI’s and three runs scored. He hit his ninth double of the season and his third home run of the year in Saturday’s 10-2 win. Lechnir only struck out once and increased his average to .331 on the campaign. The Kimberly, Wisconsin native recorded a career-high six RB’Is in Friday’s 11-1 win over Northern Colorado.
Riedel put together a masterclass in his 10th start of the season on Saturday. He threw seven no-hit innings with a season-high 11 strikeouts in his seventh win of the year. He had five 1-2-3 innings and only allowed two baserunners. Riedel has now won his last seven consecutive starts.
The Mavericks will be on the road for the next couple of weeks, beginning this week with a trip to Manhattan, Kansas for a midweek game at K-State (24-15) and a weekend series in Fargo, N.D. against first-place North Dakota State (12-22, 9-6).
