28,000 acres burned so far in Pleasant Valley-Haystack wildfire

8 a.m. Aug. 1 UPDATE:

Residents forced out of their homes by the 28,000 acre Pleasant Valley-Haystack fire complex are being allowed to return home.

According to Platte County Emergency Management and the Platte County Fire Warden, the evacuations of the Town of Hartville, Pleasant Valley and Whalen Canyon have now been lifted.

All closed highways and roads have been opened, however, officials are asking that traffic on Whalen Canyon Road be limited to residents of that area only due to continued firefighting operations.

Goshen County Emergency Management said crews were still fighting the blaze primarily in the Haystack range and the area north of Ft Laramie, with the Wyoming State Forestry Division reporting 0% containment

No structures or homes have been reported lost to the fire at this time.

Authorities in Wyoming say approximately 28,000 acres has been burned in the Pleasant Valley-Haystack fire complex in Platte and Goshen Counties.

Wyoming State Forestry Division says the fire remains at 0% containment, and a Type 3 team has been pulled together to provide management of the fire.

Goshen County Emergency Management said crews are still fighting the blaze on the north side, with the Haystacks mountains and the area north of Ft Laramie as the most active regions.

WSFD said Hartville and Pleasant Valley still remain under evacuation, however, Wyoming Highway 270 and U.S. Highway 26 reopened during the course of the day Wednesday.

No structures or homes have been reported lost to the fire at this time.
