Steve was the only child born to Robert (Bob) and Helen (Whorley) Hutchinson on September 16, 1951 in Scottsbluff. He lived his entire life in Mitchell, NE where he attended the Mitchell schools. He was a member of the Federated Church in Mitchell and loved going to youth group there. He would talk of many fun ski trips with them.

Steve lived his life to the fullest! He loved fishing with friends, son-in-law Shane and his grandsons. He also loved hunting. His Harley Davidson and biking was a huge passion of his. He put a lot of miles on that bike!

Family was most important in his life. His children and especially his grandchildren just brought the greatest joy to his life.

His second love in life was people. Being an only child was lonely for him on holidays and when there was nobody to play or hang out with. He had an amazing way of making friends by just smiling at them. He didn’t judge people, he accepted people where they were in life and for who they were. He had a warmth about him and was an exceptional listener. Wanting to get to know that person more was very important to him.

He was married to Bonnie (Sparks) Hutchinson for 34 years. This union blessed them with two wonderful children. Sadley the marriage ended but they later reconnected, became good friends and were able to share several years together enjoying 4th of July celebrations and many important events in the children’s and grandchildren’s lives.

Steve was a devoted and hard worker. He started his work career as a professional painter for Robinson Brothers. He then worked for Great Western for 27 years, Fisher Roofing for 10 years and the City of Mitchell, Street Department Head for 10 years.

We will miss seeing him on his Harley Davidson Trike, but even more, seeing him just driving around Mitchell in his black Toyota truck, waving at everyone, smiling and stopping to visit. Just sitting back and passing time.

He will be greatly missed.

Preceding him in death were his parents Bob & Helen Hutchinson; grandparents Elmer & Stella Hutchinson and Alonzo & Hope Whorley; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Steve is survived by his children Toby Hutchinson of Arizona and Hollie (Shane) Thompson of Colorado; grandchildren Ashlynn & Hailey Hutchinson and Blake & Brye Thompson; great grandson Braxton Thompson; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
