With sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Elisa “Lisa” Reyes, age 94. Lisa died peacefully in her sleep on March 3, 2024, while residing at Heritage Estates in Gering.

Lisa was born in Scottsbluff to Juan and Angela Cervantes on December 2, 1929. She married Carmelo Reyes on August 30, 1950. She was married to the love of her life for 70 years. To this union, six children were born. She was devoted to her family. Her children and grandchildren were always her primary focus. It brought her great joy to attend all their activities and sporting events. She cherished cooking and baking for her family and often exhibited her creative talents by making beautiful crafts for loved ones. She was an avid gardener and was especially known for her amazing Irises. She was a compassionate person who often visited people in nursing homes and selflessly cared for and befriended those who were in need. She shared with her family a love for sports and enjoyed watching the Huskers.

Lisa is survived by her six children, Ed (Jeanne), Jim (Chris), Art (Sherri), Don (Rebecca), Raine

Remy, Lin (Brent) Barnett, grandchildren AJ Reyes, Amanda Reyes, Rocky Remy, Katie Nanninga, Derek Reyes, Sydney Trojanek, Noelle Brown, and Reggie Reyes and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers John Cervantes, Steve Cervantes, Angel Cervantes, sisters Mary Cordova and Carol Sanchez.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Carmelo Reyes, parents Juan and Angela Cervantes, brothers Delores, Balentin, Manuel and Joe Cervantes.

Please join us in celebrating her life. The Rosary will be recited on April 11th at 5:30 pm and Mass will be held on April 12th at 10:00 am, both will be located at Christ the King Church with Father Mike McDonald officiating the service.
