Nebraska members of the U.S. Senate are both critical of what’s happening with some of the college campus protests across the country supporting Hamas and Palestine.
Speaking this past weekend on the Fox News show ‘Coast to Coast’, Deb Fischer said she’s especially concerned about what appear to be influences coming from sources outside the campus.
“When we see these anti-Semitic attacks on Jewish students, they’re outrageous. It’s complete chaos on a lot of these college campuses,” said Fischer. “So yes, it’s time for elected officials, it’s time for university officials to step up and take action.”
Pete Ricketts says given what took place in Israel last October, he’s stunned by the college campus protests.
Ricketts says social media is playing a large role influencing those taking part in “Gaza encampments”, and he points directly at TikTok in particular. “Despite the fact that if you poll Americans, Americans broadly support Israel over Hamas, and in fact, through all age categories. But if you look at the fact of Americans supporting Israel on TikTok, the number of posts and content about Palestine or supporting Hamas is fifty times greater than supporting Israel. And that just shows you right there how the Chinese Communist Party is using TikTok to divide us,” Ricketts said.
He says the entire situation could be ended today if Hamas would just surrender, but Hamas doesn’t care about their people and as a terrorist organization it must be ended.
Fischer said while she supports the students’ right to free speech and to protest, they don’t have a right to violent speech or occupying spaces the universities say is off-limits.
