Betty Lou (Arends) Case 87 of Minatare, Nebraska was born November 22, 1936 in Seneca, Nebraska. She passed away April 18, 2024 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

She was the youngest of 5 children to Richard and Rosie (Messman) Arends. The family moved to Minatare in 1938. Betty graduated from Minatare High School in 1954. She married Charles Case and later divorced.

Betty worked at the Minatare Movie Theater, Dr. Metharey and Chester B Brown Co. She started her career with the United States Postal Service in 1957 and retired in 1992. During these UPS years, she worked at Minatare, Melbeta, Scottsbluff, Gering, Bayard, Mitchell and Alliance. After the Postal Service, she worked part time for the City of Minatare as an assistant City Clerk, retiring in 2010.

Betty was a past Minatare City Council member, Minatare School Board member, Blood Bank donor, Minatare East Lawn Cemetery Board member, served on the Election Board, member and Treasurer of the Minatare Presbyterian Church, VFW Auxiliary #1681, American Legion Auxiliary #36, Alliance Eagles Auxiliary, American Postal Workers Union, Western Nebraska Betty’s Club, Admiral of Nebraska Navy and “Mom” to many.

Betty enjoyed Reading, Bingo, Canasta, Cross Word Puzzles, morning coffee group and spending time with family & friends. She was an avid Husker Football Fan, Denver Bronco’s Fan (especially John Elway). Betty’s family was very important to her.

Survivors include daughter Christy Manka of Minatare; sons Kirby (Kelly) Case of Gering, Tommy Case of Minatare and Marty Case of Minatare; grandchildren Ryan Manka, Bethany Case, Karl Case, Brandey Case, Jenny (Zach) Tinnell, Casey Case and Cody (Tanesha) Case; great grandchildren Kori Case, Willow Case, Carson Tinnell, RaeLynn Tinnell, Blayn Tinnell, OakLynn Tinnell, Jacob Case and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death, parents Richard and Rosie Arends, brothers and sisters-in-law Clifford (Wanda) Arends, Delbert “Bud” (Marge) Arends, Glen “Rich” (LuEtta) Arends, sister and brother-in-law Virginia (Duane) Whitaker, grandson Cory Case, son-in-law Steve Manka and husband Charles Case.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Community Presbyterian Church in Minatare with Pastor Carolyn Dickinson officiating. Cremation has taken place and Betty will be buried at a later date by the Family at Minatare East Lawn Cemetery.
