City of Scottsbluff Increasing Funding for Interlocal Crossing Guard Agreement

The Scottsbluff City Council has voted in favor of changing the agreement with Scottsbluff Public Schools and their Interlocal Crossing Guard Agreement.

The two entities have had a standing agreement that they will split the cost of the crossing guards, not to exceed $15,000 per school year.

During Monday night’s council meeting, City Manager Kevin Spencer noted they were very close to exceeding that amount this year, so the revised agreement bumps up the top dollar amount to $20,000.

He also said the hope is that the buffer funds might be able to used to have a few substitute crossing guards, as the Scottsbluff Police Department’s Animal Control Officer is typically the first to be called to fill in as a replacement. One of the Police Department’s School Resource Officers is typically next in line to step up to fill in as a replacement crossing guard.
