OVERTON – The Overton Track and Field Invitational was cut short by rain on Tuesday.

The school tried to beat the weather with an early start and no prelims, but shortly before 11:45 a.m. was forced to call off the remainder of the meet.

A handful of field events were able to be completed before the stoppage. Among those for the boys, Rio Remund of South Loup won the shot put, Cohen Rohde of Sumner-Eddyville-Miller was first in discus, Twin Loup’s Justin Folkers took the high jump with Quincy Ryker first in pole vault and Ansley-Litchfield’s Luke Bailey was first in both long jump and triple jump.

Among the girls events that were completed, Overton’s Natalie Wood won the shot put, Taryn Arbuthnot of SEM led the high jump and long jump, Bryn Schwarz of South Loup was first in pole vault and Overton’s Adysen McCarter took the triple jump.

Several of the teams involved will compete again Friday in Lexington.
