A Dawson County traffic stop Monday evening ended with the subject being injured. Few details have been released pending an investigation by the South Central Law Enforcement Services.

It occurred around 8:47pm Monday as the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office was alerted of a man, possibly armed with a firearm and had an active out-of-state arrest warrant for a felony offense. Sheriff Mark Montgomery says deputies located the vehicle near Gothenburg on Interstate 80 and attempted to make contact with the subject.

After a brief verbal exchange, the male subject fled in the vehicle and came to a stop in the Gothenburg area. Deputies approached the vehicle but, it fled again and struck a tree. The man was transported to Gothenburg Health. No further information was being released.

The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Nebraska State Patrol, Gothenburg Police Department, Gothenburg Fire Department and Dawson County Emergency Managment.
