1000 Hours Outside March Events at Wilson Public Library

Spring is on its way, which means more daylight and time to spend outdoors. In honor of the new season, the Wilson Public Library in Cozad is hosting two 1000 Hours Outside events this month.

On Friday, March 8, starting at noon on the west side of the library, Heidi Revelo will be here with her extensive collection of flower seeds for you to plant in Styrofoam cups and take home.

On Saturday, March 30, at Muny Park at 10am, celebrate Take a Walk in the Park Day by joining us at the bike racks in front of the swimming pool to read the StoryWalk Too Many Carrots by Katy Hudson and then do a spring scavenger hunt.

Similar to the 1,000 Books Before… programs the library offers, 1,000 Hours Outside® promotes spending more time in the outdoors and off devices. According to their website, “the entire purpose of 1000 Hours Outside® is to attempt to match nature time with screen time.” Even if you don’t hit 1,000 hours outside by the end of your year, you still win. Why? Because the whole point is to get out into nature and off of screens, if for just a little while.

If you haven’t signed up for the challenge yet, you can still sign up at the front desk of the library. Your name will go in for a book drawing at the end of March.

Wilson Public Library is located at 910 Meridian Avenue in Cozad
