The Wisner-Pilger Volleyball Team lost their first match of the year Thursday night, falling 3-2 at home to Oakland-Craig.
The Gators won set one 25-21 and set two 25-16 before losing set three 25-12, set four 25-17, and set five 15-11.
Joslyn Jacobs, Lindsey Kneifl, and Lily Otten had 9 kills apiece while Emily Buhrman notched 7 kills and 26 digs. Jacobs totaled 40 digs while Alexia Martin added 32. Kennedie Ott posted 10 while Adi Meyer registered 8 digs and 25 set assists. Kneifl totaled 7 digs while Cameryn Bellar put down 13 set assists.
The match was truly an inspired effort on Oakland-Craig’s part.
Wisner-Pilger (7-1) travels to North Bend Central to take on the Tigers (9-4) Thursday night.
North Bend Central won the Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Triangular Monday night, sweeping the host Raiders 2-0, and winning 2-1 over Stanton.
This should be a good match as both teams should really get after one another come Thursday night.
You know the Gators will be fired up given what happened against the Knights.
I fully expect to see a focused and determined Wisner-Pilger squad take the floor Thursday night.
The Tigers are a very good ball club and this should be a very good and competitive match.
I think it could easily go 4 sets, maybe even 5.
I feel like the Gators have a good chance to win this one and get back on track, but North Bend Central is tough and capable of pulling the upset, especially at home.
Wisner-Pilger has to be ready as this match could truly go either way in my mind.
Games are played on the court and not on paper, and trying to say this team is going to win or that team is going to often times is hard to guess honestly so I will just say both teams should really get after one another come Thursday night, and make things very compelling and entertaining.
