October 7th, 2022 | Jeff Axtell

The Wisner-Pilger Volleyball Team fell 2-0 to GACC before downing Lutheran High Northeast 2-0 at the LHNE Triangular Thursday night.

The Bluejays took set one 25-18 and set two 26-24.

Emily Buhrman had 7 kills while Alexia Martin and Delaney Boyer each notched 11 digs. Maggie Schweers dished out 12 set assists while Cameryn Bellar posted 8.

The Gators won set one over the Eagles 25-23, and won set two 26-24.

Bellar had 7 kills and 8 set assists while Buhrman recorded 13 digs. Martin added 9 digs while Schweers totaled 7 digs and 16 set assists.

Pretty decent Volleyball from Wisner-Pilger.

The Gators (14-7) take on Wynot (12-7) at their own Tournament on Saturday.

The Blue Devils won 2-1 over Hartington Cedar Catholic, but lost 2-0 to Ponca at the Cedar Catholic Triangular Thursday night.

This match will definitely be a challenge for Wisner-Pilger, but I think the Gators will win it.

The winner gets either Norfolk Catholic or Winnebago, and if it’s the Knights then Wisner-Pilger will have a real challenge on their hands.

This is a loaded tournament with DC West and St. Paul on the other side.

It’s a tournament that will really test and challenge the Gators, which is what they want heading into the East Husker Conference Tournament and postseason I’m sure.

Wisner-Pilger has to play their game and really come to play on Saturday.

The Gators have to make plays in the clutch and under pressure.

Wisner-Pilger has to perform well and be on top of their game.

I look for the Gators to turn in an outstanding effort in this tournament, and put themselves in a position to do well in it.
