The Tri County Northeast Boys Basketball Team won 75-47 at Stanton in last Friday night’s regular season finale before losing 66-39 to Pender in the C2-7 Sub-District Semifinals from Ponca last Tuesday night to end the year.
Jeff’s Stanton Recap:
The Wolfpack led 19-10 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 16-13 to take a 35-23 lead into the locker room. Tri County Northeast outscored Stanton 24-15 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 59-38 at the end of three. The Wolfpack outscored the Mustangs 16-9 in the 4th quarter. Michael Dickens had 12 points and 7 rebounds while Hunter Heikes added 12 points. Thatcher Lamp added 11 while Jackson Belt and Blake Kneifl totaled 10 apiece. Ben Jorgensen chipped in 8.
Pender Game Recap:
The Pendragons led 21-4 after one before the Wolfpack won the 2nd quarter 14-13 to make it a 34-18 game at halftime. Pender outscored Tri County Northeast 23-9 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 57-27 at the end of three. The Wolfpack won the 4th quarter 12-9. Heikes had 9 points and 9 rebounds while Kneifl and Jorgensen notched 9 and 8 points, respectively.
End of Season Synopsis:
Tri County Northeast ends their at 10-11. It was a fairly respectable year for the Wolfpack with the highlight being an upset of State Qualifier Walthill. Heikes led the team in scoring with 246 points while Belt led the team in rebounding with 205 for the season. Tri County Northeast says goodbye to Dickens, Marquise Munoz, and Heikes. Key returners for next year include Jorgensen, Lamp, Kneifl, and Belt. I think the future is very bright for Tri County Northeast Boys Basketball. I look for these kids to work extremely hard this offseason and comeback better and stronger than ever ready to do big things next season.
