The Stanton Boys Basketball Team lost 75-47 at home to Tri County Northeast in last Friday night’s regular season finale before falling 64-32 to Clarkson/Leigh in the C2-6 Sub-District Play-In Game at Norfolk Catholic last Monday night to end the season.

Jeff’s Tri County Northeast Recap:

The Wolfpack led 19-10 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 16-13 to take a 35-23 lead into the locker room. Tri County Northeast outscored Stanton 24-15 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 59-38 at the end of three. The Wolfpack outscored the Mustangs 16-9 in the 4th quarter. Mitchell Hupp had 23 points and 8 rebounds.

Jeff’s Clarkson/Leigh Recap:

The Patriots led the Mustangs 18-8 after one and won the 2nd quarter 17-11 to take a 35-19 lead into the locker room. Clarkson/Leigh outscored Stanton 16-5 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 51-24 at the end of three. The Patriots won the 4th quarter 13-8.

End of Season Synopsis:

Stanton ends their year at 2-19. It was a struggle for the Mustangs this season. Stanton says goodbye to Hupp and Tanner Simmerman. Key returners include Barrett Wilke and Josh Arens. I don’t know what the future holds for this program, but I look for the Mustangs to work hard this offseason and be much improved next year. I think Stanton will have a good summer and fare better next year than they did this year. It is going to take a lot of hard work and dedication in the offseason though.
