March 4th, 2022 | Jeff Axtell

The North Bend Central Girls Basketball Team routed Ainsworth 58-32 last Friday night in the C1-3 District Final from Battle Creek.

The Tigers got out to a 14-4 lead after one, and won the 2nd quarter 11-6 to take a 25-10 lead into the locker room.

North Bend Central won the 3rd quarter 15-12 to extend their lead to 40-22 at the end of three.

The Tigers outscored the Bulldogs 18-10 in the 4th quarter.

Kaitlyn Emanuel had 17 points and 10 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Aleya Bourek added 12 points while Lindsey Emanuel and Sydney Emanuel notched 9 and 8, respectively.

Dominant win for North Bend Central!

The Tigers (24-2) take on Malcolm (20-6) in the first round of State at the Devaney Center Monday afternoon in action that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Clippers beat Syracuse 46-36 in the C1-8 District Final at home last Friday night.

This will be a tough game and matchup for North Bend Central no doubt.

I look for the Tigers to find a way to win this one though and survive and advance as they say.

North Bend Central could face GICC in the Semifinals, and the Crusaders beat the Tigers at the Nebraska Girls Basketball Showcase in Kearney in January so that would be an interesting and intriguing matchup for sure.

First things first though, North Bend Central has to worry about getting past Malcolm first.

Tip-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on the Bull.
