The Lyons-Decatur Northeast Boys Basketball Team lost 61-49 to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament in Bancroft on Saturday.

The Bulldogs got out to a 19-9 lead after one, and won the 2nd quarter 19-13 to take a 38-22 lead into the locker room.

LDNE won the 3rd quarter 13-9 to make it a 47-35 game at the end of three.

Both teams scored 14 points in the 4th quarter.

Gavin Brownell had 13 points and 7 rebounds while Talan Mock totaled 13 points. Braden Hardin added 7 while Brayden Hegge pulled down 10 rebounds. Kaden Knaak added 7 boards.

Great effort from the Cougars. The game was much closer than the first meeting between these two teams was.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast (5-13) takes on Twin River (5-12) in an EHC Tournament Consolation Game in North Bend Tuesday night.

The Titans lost 60-46 to Madison at Madison in Saturday’s first round.

This should be one heck of a game.

I think the Cougars have a good chance to win it too.

Both of these teams play hard and want it more than anything else.

I feel you will see two very inspired and motivated teams take the floor Tuesday night.

This game matters to these kids, that much I can tell you.

LDNE has to play a compete four quarter game, and come out and play well from start to finish.

If the Cougars do that they should put themselves in a position to win the game at the end.

Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. in North Bend.
