Jones, Secora highlight Morningside softball all-conference selections

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – The Great Plains Athletic Conference released its softball all-conference selections for the 2024 season, naming Kennedee Jones to the league’s top team and Morgan Secora to the second team.

Jones, a first baseman for the Mustangs, hit .331 on the season, driving in 28 runs and coming around to score 21 times. The senior from Ankeny, Iowa, tallied 18 extra base hits, including eight home runs while posting a .998 fielding percentage with 390 putouts.

Secora, a pitcher from Gretna, Neb. made 26 appearances on the season, including 20 starts, posting an 11-10 record. She averaged 3.58 strikeouts per seven innings, fanning 70 batters in 137 innings pitched while posting a 2.66 earned run average. Secora also hit .407 in 54 at bats.

Jones and Secora were joined by Mackenna Sidzyik and Paige Schuster, who each received honorable mention nods from the league coaches. Sidzyik hit .245 on the season with a .949 fielding percentage, while Schuster hit .318 with 16 RBIs as the designated player.
