Overview:
The 2022 Howells-Dodge Volleyball Team figures to be very good once again this year after winning State last year. Head Coach Taryn Janke tells KTIC Sports who all returns from last year.
The Jaguars lost just 3 players to graduation in Ellie Baumert, Brooklyn Macholan, and Morgan Gall, but are low on numbers this year.
That’s good news for Howells-Dodge as I think the Jaguars will be just fine despite not having a ton of girls out for the team this season.
Howells-Dodge’s biggest challenge will be finding someone to fill the void left by Ellie Baumert though there’s no doubt about that.
Coach Janke says this team has great Senior leadership.
I think that Senior leadership can and will take the Jaguars a long ways this year.
Season Outlook:
Howells-Dodge looks to make another run in Class D-2 this year. Coach Janke says the team’s strength of schedule should pay off come postseason time.
The Jaguars are in Sub-District D2-3 with Humphrey St. Francis, Mead, Osceola, and St. Edward. Coach Janke shares her thoughts on competing and going up against those teams.
Howells-Dodge opens up the season at defending Class C-2 State Champ Oakland-Craig on Thursday, August 25th in a match that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull.
Coach Janke says Oakland-Craig and Clarkson/Leigh figure to be two of the top teams to beat in the East Husker Conference this year.
