The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Girls Basketball Team hammered South Platte 78-38 in the D1-2 District Final at Kenesaw Friday night.

Jeff’s Game Recap:

The Bluejays led the Knights 27-7 after one, and outscored South Platte 22-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 49-14 lead into the locker room. GACC outscored the Knights 23-15 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 72-29 at the end of three. South Platte won the 4th quarter 9-6.

State Tournament Game Preview:

GACC (21-2) takes on Centura (20-6) in the first round of State at 6:00 p.m. Thursday from the Devaney Center in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull. The Centurions outlasted Summerland 50-49 in overtime in the D1-7 District Final at home Friday night.

Jeff’s Game Take:

Centura is a solid team and cannot be taken lightly. GACC has to bring their “A” game and come ready to play. The D-1 field is really tough as Southern Valley and Elgin Public/Pope John are on the Bluejays’ side of the bracket with the likes of Pender, O’Neill St. Mary’s, and McCool Junction on the other side. No game is going to be easy in this State Tournament that is for sure, but when it’s all said and done I think GACC and Pender will matchup in the State Championship on Saturday.
