February 27th, 2024 | Jeff Axtell

The Clarkson/Leigh Girls Basketball Team won 39-32 at Hastings St. Cecilia in the C2-7 District Final Friday night.

Jeff’s Game Recap:

The Hawkettes led 9-8 after one before the Patriots won the 2nd quarter 11-5 to take a 19-14 lead into the locker room. Clarkson/Leigh won the 3rd quarter 12-8 to extend their lead to 31-22 at the end of three. St. Cecilia won the 4th quarter 10-8. Chloe Hanel had 30 points and 15 rebounds, good enough for a double-double.

State Tournament Game Preview:

Clarkson/Leigh (17-6) takes on Crofton (25-0) in the first round of State at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Devaney Center in action that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull. The Warriors won 58-42 at home over Ord in the C2-1 District Final Friday night.

Jeff’s Game Take:

I think Clarkson/Leigh can really battle and give Crofton a game. The Warriors are a great team, but upsets happen at State all the time. The Patriots are an experienced, veteran team, and won’t be phased by Crofton. I look for Hanel to have a monster game and for Clarkson/Leigh to give Crofton a battle and push them to the brink.
