The Clarkson/Leigh Boys Basketball Team lost 65-33 at David City in last Friday night’s regular season finale before doubling up Stanton 64-32 in the C2-6 Sub-District Play-In Game from Norfolk Catholic last Monday night, and then losing 64-27 to the host Knights in last Tuesday night’s Sub-District Semifinals.

Jeff’s David City Recap:

The Scouts led 27-8 after one before winning the 2nd quarter 14-12 to extend their lead to 41-20 at halftime. David City outscored Clarkson/Leigh 17-7 in the 3rd quarter to increase their advantage to 58-27 at the end of three. The Scouts won the 4th quarter 7-6. Trey Steffensmeier had 8 points.

The Patriots led the Mustangs 18-8 after one and won the 2nd quarter 17-11 to take a 35-19 lead into the locker room. Clarkson/Leigh outscored Stanton 16-5 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 51-24 at the end of three. The Patriots won the 4th quarter 13-8. Kyle McMullin had 29 points and 7 rebounds while Steffensmeier added 10 points. Ryan Brichacek tallied 7 points and 7 rebounds.

Norfolk Catholic Game Recap:

The Knights led 12-8 after one and outscored Clarkson/Leigh 17-10 in the 2nd quarter to take a 29-18 lead into the locker room. Norfolk Catholic won the 3rd quarter 11-7 to extend their lead to 40-25 at the end of three. The Knights outscored the Patriots 24-2 in the 4th quarter. Korbin Lemburg had 10 points and 9 rebounds while McMullin notched 8 points.

End of Season Synopsis:

Clarkson/Leigh finishes the year at 3-18. I thought the Patriots played their best Basketball at the end of the season. The Patriots say goodbye to Brichacek, Jordan Noonan, Max Muhle, Steffensmeier, Conner Jurgensen, Christian Hamernik, and Jack Brabec. Key returners include McMullin and Tucker Matthies. I look for Clarkson/Leigh to work hard this offseason and comeback strong next year. The Patriots built a little momentum at the end of the season so let’s see what Clarkson/Leigh can do in 2024-2025.
