Virginia Lee (Arends) Whitaker, 94 of Minatare, Nebraska passed away Friday, April 12, 2024 at Kimball County Hospital.
Per Virginia’s request, there will be no services. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at East Lawn Cemetery in Minatare. Fond memories and condolences may be left at www.dugankramer.com. Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel will be in charge of the arrangements.
Virginia was born August 29, 1929 in Lebanon, Missouri. She was the 3rd of 5 children born to Richard and Rosie (Messman) Arends. The family moved to Minatare in 1938. Virginia graduated from Minatare High School in 1946. She married Duane L. Whitaker on October 3, 1953.
Virginia was the bookkeeper for Harry’s Truck Stop, Café and Motel in Minatare for 45 years.
Survivors include sister Betty Case of Minatare and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death, husband Duane L. Whitaker, parents Richard and Rosie Arends, brothers and sisters-in-law Clifford (Wanda) Arends, Delbert “Bud” (Marge) Arends, Glen “Rich” (LuEtta) Arends and brother-in-law Charles Case.
